Books are a special medium.
No one cares how many podcasts you listen to in a year or how many documentaries you watch.
But when we find out someone reads 30 books a year we think that they’re really special. And smart. Even if we have no context on the types of books they’re reading. Reading 30 vampire historical romance novels is not the same as 30 business books.
Someone who reads 1-2 hours each day can get through a lot of books in a month/week/year. But after reflecting on it, reading that much doesn’t really matter.
What matters more than reading (consuming) is creating. What if you made music, wrote your own book, or filmed your own videos for that much time each day?
Now that would be impressive.
