The Set Of Your Sail
August 23, 2019
I’ve discontinued my personal development WordPress blog called Never Done Learning. This is a repost of my first and favorite post from that blog.
I thought it was only fitting to start this blog by sharing some Jim Rohn. Jim is one of the most influential speakers of all time. If you haven’t heard of him, he is also well known for being a mentor to Tony Robbins.
“Here’s a philosophy that helped change my life. It’s not what happens that determines your life’s future. It’s what you do about what happens. All of us are in like a little sail boat, and it’s not the wind that determines your destination. It’s the set of the sail. So jot this phrase down. It’s one of the best to understand. The wind of disaster, the wind of opportunity, the wind when it’s upside down, the wind when it’s favorable and unfavorable. The same wind, the social wind, the political wind. The same wind blows on all of us. The difference in where you arrive in one year, three years, five years, the difference in arrival is not the blowing of the wind but the set of the sail.”
More famous quotes from Jim Rohn:
“Don’t wish it was easier wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenge wish for more wisdom.”
“What is easy to do is easy not to do.”
“If you don’t like how things are, change it! You’re not a tree.”
“We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret or disappointment.”
“You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of.”
“Time is more value than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time.”
